Teachers Building Society said that in that time, he had developed a “strong understanding” of the sector and played a key role in the mutual’s financial management and strategy.
As CFO, Potter will ensure the mutual’s financial performance aligns with its teacher-first approach and provide value to members.
Gavin Opperman, chief executive of Teachers Building Society, said: “Simon has been an integral part of our finance leadership team for many years and brings deep knowledge of the society and the mutual sector.
“His appointment reflects both his experience and our commitment to developing talent within the organisation.”
Potter added: “I’m delighted to take on the role of chief financial officer. Having spent over a decade with the society, I’m proud of the work we do to support teachers and education professionals.
