The deal will see eight members of the Key Mortgages team join Mortgage 1st, and Ryan Joyce, founder of Key Mortgages, will continue to support clients as a mortgage adviser under the Mortgage 1st brand.
Key Mortgages will operate as a trading style of Mortgage 1st, and its advisers will transition to the Stonebridge network.
This acquisition comes after Mortgage 1st acquired Peak Mortgages and Protection in 2023 and is part of its wider strategy to scale the business over the next few years.
Mortgage 1st aims to rapidly grow its adviser numbers, enhance its infrastructure and expand into specialist lending areas.
This move has been backed by significant investment into Mortgage 1st, which the advice firm recently revealed was secured from Redzone co-founder Jon Clement.

Jon Stones (pictured, left), managing director of Mortgage 1st, said: “This acquisition represents another important step in delivering our long-term growth strategy. Key Mortgages is a highly respected business with a strong client base and a great team that shares our values around advice quality and customer service. We’re delighted to welcome Ryan and the team to Mortgage 1st and look forward to supporting them as we continue to grow the Key brand.
“Our recent investment allows us to continue scaling at pace, and acquisitions like this are a key part of that journey as we build one of the UK’s leading mortgage brokerages.”
Joyce (pictured, middle) added: “The team and I are excited to be joining Mortgage 1st. I am extremely proud of how far Key Mortgages has come since I founded the business in 2020 and of the team that have helped us grow, but feel now is the right time to let someone else take the reins.
“From the beginning of our discussions, Jon and Lisa (pictured, right) have shown they have huge ambition and have the resources to be able to take the Key Mortgages brand to the next level, which will further enhance our reputation and be able to offer our customers an even better experience than we currently do.”
