Aspiring mortgage and protection advisers at The Right Mortgage & Protection Network (TRM) can tap into a new specialist training programme.

The mortgage industry needs to attract new talent and improve diversity across the sector, according to TRM.

The network’s Right Academy initiative aims to provide knowledge, skills and support for a successful career in financial services, particularly those working towards Competent Adviser Status (CAS).

The programme is designed to provide a structured route to becoming an appointed representative (AR).

Advisers joining the programme begin as trainees and are supported by compliance and supervision managers, who train teams.

The programme includes a three-day induction, support through sign-off, ongoing training towards CAS, plus specialist masterclasses.

There is also training to help advisers generate their own leads.

At the same time, TRM has launched a ‘supervision hub’ on its adviser website, providing additional tools and resources to support advisers and firms through the non-CAS process.

Ben Allen (pictured), managing director of TRM, said: “At a time when the industry is facing a clear need to attract and retain new talent, initiatives like The Right Academy are essential. It is not just about bringing more people into the sector but about doing so in the right way, with the structure, oversight and long-term opportunities that set them up for success.

“This is something I feel incredibly passionate about. This industry has been very good to me, and The Right Academy is about opening the door for others to build the same rewarding careers, while helping to improve the sector, increase diversity and give something back.

“For TRM, this is about strengthening the quality and resilience of our network for years to come. By investing in people at the very start of their journey, we are helping to build a stronger, more sustainable adviser community that benefits firms, clients and the wider market.”

Last month, the firm hired Gemma Penkethman as private medical insurance (PMI) supervision and development manager.
