The Right Mortgage and Protection Network has appointed Rebecca Egerton as the head of The Right Academy.

The Right Academy gives firms a structured route to bring advisers into the profession by providing induction training, development support, supervision, masterclasses and ongoing training towards Competent Adviser Status (CAS).

Last month, the network announced it had developed 35 trainee advisers since launching earlier this year, with the aim of appointing 100 trainee advisers by the end of 2026.

Egerton will oversee, run and develop The Right Academy, with responsibility for coordinating the training and development programme for the network’s non-CAS advisers.

She was previously the supervision and development manager with the network, where she worked across the main business and its subsidiary, The Later Life Lending Network.

Egerton has worked for The Right Mortgage since the end of 2022.

In her role, she will report to Jack Norrey, compliance director at The Right Mortgage and Protection Network.

The Right Academy invests in the future of advisers

Ben Allen, managing director of The Right Mortgage and Protection Network, said: “The Right Academy is a major investment in the future of the advice profession, so it is vital we have the right leadership in place to help it develop successfully. Rebecca brings first-hand experience, strong supervision and development knowledge, and a deep understanding of how to support people as they build their confidence and capability. She has already made a strong contribution across the business, and this appointment reflects both her skills and the importance we place on The Right Academy.

“We have been clear that the industry needs to do more to develop new advisers, not simply recruit from the same existing pool. The Right Academy gives firms a practical and supported way to do that, and Rebecca will play a central role in helping more people enter the profession and reach the standards required to succeed.”

Egerton (pictured) added: “I am very pleased to be taking on this role at such an important time for The Right Academy and for the wider profession. My own route into financial services was not a straight line, and that is one of the reasons I feel so strongly about creating clear and supported routes for people within our industry. There is so much talent available, but people need the right structure, training and support if they are going to build lasting careers.

“The academy is not just about helping individuals achieve CAS. It is about helping our member firms develop the right staff, providing them with confidence, and as a result, creating adviser businesses that are stronger in the long term.”
