Mortgage lenders continue to nudge some rates upwards across buy-to-let (BTL) and residential purchase and remortgaging deals.

Halifax has upped its homemover and first-time buyer rates by up to 0.12%, with remortgage, product transfer and further advance deals set to receive a 0.05% rise.

Meanwhile, Virgin Money has increased its buy-to-let (BTL) product transfer by up to 0.15%. The rate increases affect selected two-, three- and five-year fixed products.

Purchase and remortgage prices will be subject to a slight reduction. Two-year fixed rates will be trimmed by up to 0.07%, along with shared ownership fixes. Five-year fixes will be cut by 0.06%, along with remortgage two-year fixed rates. Five-year fixes for those remortgages have been cut by 0.08%.

Accord has bucked the trend by making cuts to its BTL rates, which will take effect from Thursday 6 August, when all 80% loan-to-value (LTV) fixed rates will be reduced by 0.1%.

Last month, Mortgage Solutions reported how a host of high street names were among the latest lenders to increase mortgage pricing as the continuation of the conflict in the Middle East caused uncertainty.
