Chairman of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) Lord Turner is interested in becoming the next governor of the Bank of England, The Times reports.

Speaking yesterday Turner said: “I would obviously not rule myself out. It is something I’ll have to think about when the time comes.”

He made the comments in an interview with Bloomberg TV.

Addressing concerns that the increased powers of the governor were too much for a single person, Turner said the next governor did not have to a “God-like” figures if his policy committees functioned well.
