SimplyBiz holds protection awareness week
Support services firm SimplyBiz is holding a dedicated 'protection awareness week' for advisers after it found "the protection gap is as much of a problem now as it has ever been".

The group will provide online material and training as well as host 12 specialist events across the UK between 8 July and 18 September.

SimplyBiz Mortgages head of business development Makayla Everitt said a recent survey had shown only 4% of the population have income protection, 7% have critical illness cover and 23% have life insurance.

“I’m sure that most of those in the financial services profession find those figures as frighteningly low as I do, and understand why it is so vital to try and help clients understand the importance of protection cover for them and their family,” she said.

The firm also launched a ‘Protection Academy’ in March, “the popularity [of which] has indicated that there was real appetite for an education and information resource amongst the advisers who use our services,” said Everitt.

SimplyBiz worked with protection providers Bright Grey, Zurich, Ageas, Friends Life, PruProtect, L&G and Aviva to build the campaign.
