Sarah Green, formally of Barclays, will join Kensington as head of sales and marketing on 17 November to help the specialist lender deliver its growth plans next year.

Green’s appointment will coincide with The Mortgage and Protection Event, held by Mortgage Solutions, where she will deliver the lender’s specialist mortgage presentation to the Manchester audience.

Barclays made changes to the structure of its senior management team by combining its home solutions and intermediary channels in May this year, prompting Green’s departure to pursue other opportunities.

Alex Hammond, head of marketing communications at Kensington, said: “2014 has been a strong year for Kensington. Amidst the sale talk we have delivered some genuinely interesting developments to brokers. These include our pledge of a day one underwriter call on every application, our mobile app and our proposition for self-employed borrowers, which has proven to be a benchmark for many of our competitors.

“And this growth story will continue in 2015 as we provide more products and greater opportunity for brokers to meet the needs of their clients with specialist circumstances. Sarah is joining us to help deliver those opportunities to even more brokers. We welcome her to the team and look forward to working alongside her to grow our business.”

Investec, the South African banking group and owners of Kensington, put the lender up for sale in February and confirmed its purchase by private equity firms Blackstone Tactical Opportunities and TPG Special Situations Partners for £180m in September.

Former Shawbrook chief executive Ian Henderson will take over as group chief executive while Keith Street will continue to lead Kensington’s mortgage arm.
