Stonebridge reports 60% spike in March mortgage volumes
Mortgage network Stonebridge has reported a 60% increase in the number of cases completed in March compared to February signifying a ‘record' month for the group.

The value of mortgage applications completed by the group in March rose by 62% month-on-month.

While quarter one’s mortgage business performance was slightly down on the previous three months, against Q1 2014, completions rose by 59% with a 62% increase in the value of those completions.

Managing director Richard Adams (pictured) said the strong performance in March and the year-on-year quarterly improvement could be attributed to a boost in its Appointed Representative (AR) firm numbers and increased activity within those firms.

In 2014, Stonebridge recruited 51 firms to its network, 22% more than 2013, which Adams claimed was the largest percentage increase of any network and the strongest performer in terms of growth over the past three years.

“We ended 2014 very strongly and, like most of the market, saw a dampening of demand in the first couple of months of 2015. However, our March levels would indicate much greater activity is likely going forward, especially once the result of the forthcoming general election is known,” said Adams.

“We are very positive about business activity during the rest of the year and are actively looking to recruit new AR firms while continuing to provide a very high level of support and access to business opportunities for both new and existing members.”
