Mansfield Building Society appoints new chairman
Mansfield Building Society has appointed Jeremy Cross as chairman following the retirement of Nigel Tamplin who had worked for the society for nine years.

Cross, a chartered accountant by profession, was previously director of personal current accounts with Halifax and Bank of Scotland.

Colin Bradley has been given the role of non-executive director. Bradley, a building society veteran, spent 26 years at Loughborough Building Society where he climbed to the position of deputy chief executive and finance director.

Chief executive of the Mansfield, Gev Lynott, said Cross had the right combination of experience and drive to ensure the society remained focussed on delivering its corporate plan.

Cross said: “It’s an exciting time for the Mansfield. The Society is expanding its mortgage broker business, responding to the changing regulatory environment and delivering value to customers, members and the local community that it serves.”

The Mansfield has made a number of changes to its mortgage range this year.

At the beginning of the year, acting on feedback from brokers, it improved the discount and lengthened the product term on its mortgage for older borrowers which has a maximum age of 80 at the end of the loan.

Throughout quarter two this year the society has continued to cut rates and add products to its mortgage range.

Following strong demand for its mortgages in Q1 the society revised up its completion targets for 2015. It is aiming to complete 25% more business than it did in 2014.
