Metro Bank ups national presence
Metro Bank has appointed three new field based business development managers (BDMs) as part of its plans to expand its intermediary operations throughout England and Wales.

Claire Askham has joined Metro Bank from Legal & General Mortgage Club and will be responsible for the North of England; Harsha Dahyea joins from The State Bank of India and will oversee operations in the Midlands; and Dominic Sheahan joins from Commercial First to manage the intermediary relationships in the South West. All three will report directly into Caroline Mirakian, head of key accounts.

Charles Morley, head of mortgage distribution at Metro Bank, said: “The move to appoint regionally-based BDMs comes as a direct response to feedback we’ve received from intermediaries as part of our ongoing conversations to ensure we’re meeting the needs of the industry.

“The appointments of Claire, Harsha and Dominic will help us to better understand and respond to the needs of intermediaries and customers up and down the country and we’re confident this will be a positive development for both our partners and customers.”

Metro has ambitions to become a top 10 lender in the next few years. It announced plans to widen its lending area in December and in January announced that it had doubled its commercial and personal lending during 2014.
