Aldermore appoints director of retail mortgages
Aldermore has hired Damian Thompson as director of retail mortgages.

Thompson has been working at the specialist bank in an interim position since November 2017.

In his new role he will push the lender’s retail finance strategy forward with customers and brokers.

Thomson has previously worked at Newcastle Building Society as customer director and also held senior roles at Principality Building Society.

He has worked in financial services for the last 27 years after starting his career with HBOS.

Expanded product proposition

Sue Hayes, group managing director – retail finance, at Aldermore said: “We are delighted to announce Damian as our director of retail mortgages.

“In his interim role, he has gained very strong support from across the business with his personal and engaging leadership style, leading the mortgages team to deliver later-life lending and new pricing tiers to reach an ever greater number of customers.

“As we embark on the next stage of our journey as part of the FirstRand Group, Damian will play an integral part of the retail finance strategy helping us deliver for customers and brokers going forward.”

Thompson (pictured) added: “I am very excited to be taking on this role in the bank.

“Aldermore has a refreshingly bold and innovative approach to banking and I intend to continue nurturing a culture in our mortgages business that puts customers and intermediaries at the heart of everything we do.

“This year we have already expanded our product propositions to reach an ever greater number of customers.

“Our vision is to build and expand on this to help people seek and seize opportunities with straightforward financial solutions for every stage of their life, from buying their first home, to getting funding for those dream retirement plans, and everything in-between.”
