Fleet steps down as John Charcol chief executive
Mark Fleet is leaving his post as chief executive at John Charcol.

Fleet is stepping down following the completion of a “change programme” under his stewardship, including the establishment of John Charcol’s telephony advice center in Southampton.

He joined the broker firm back in 2017 after working as chief commercial officer at James Hay Partnership.

Fleet said: “It’s been a privilege to act as custodian for what is still regarded as the leading mortgage brokerage in the UK.

“The team have achieved a huge amount over the past two years and I wish them all the best for the next exciting chapter in Charcol’s long story.”

Luke Somerset, chief commercial officer at John Charcol, said Fleet had been a “driving force and catalyst for change”.

“Much of the hard work has been done and our focus now is on driving growth through our self-employed network and employed adviser teams in London, Southampton and Birmingham,” he added.

In addition, Ian Darby is leaving his role of executive chairman to “focus on his broader investment portfolio”, particularly his role at advisory firm Wren Sterling.

He will remain a shareholder in John Charcol and as an adviser to Palatine Private Equity, the broker’s parent firm.
