Chief technological officer appointed by Pure Retirement
Leslie Baker has been recruited by Pure Retirement to the post of chief technological officer.

Baker boasts decades of experience in IT across a host of industries, including comprehensive stints in both investment banking and insurance. His career has seen Baker manage small and medium-sized development and IT teams, where Pure Retirement said he had implemented agile working methods, optimised processes and improved productivity.

In his new post, he will be tasked with helping to drive growth in the lender’s technological capabilities.

The recruitment of Baker follows on from the appointment of Eleanor Thornhill as chief financial officer at the lifetime mortgage lender last month. Pure Retirement said its expanding team was a demonstration of its recent growth and ambition to lead the lifetime mortgage market.

Simon Hayton (pictured), chief operating officer at Pure Retirement, said: “Technology is likely to be a key differentiator as the equity release sector continues to grow. As a company dedicated to using it to enhance the user journey for advisers and customers alike it’s fantastic to have someone of Leslie’s calibre joining the company and helping us to drive that side of the business.”

Baker added: “The lifetime mortgage market is becoming an increasingly mainstream facet of the wider financial services landscape, and it’s great to not only be a part of it, but to be doing so with one of the market leaders. There’s scope to really drive both our business and wider market growth through technology, and I look forward to helping to achieve that.”
