Rightmove names Johan Svanström as CEO
Rightmove has hired Johan Svanström as CEO taking over from Peter Brooks-Johnson, who will retire after the firm’s full-year results.

Brooks-Johnson will continue to lead the business until then as part of an orderly transition and Svanström will join the firm as executive director and CEO designate on 20 February and then become CEO on 6 March.

Svanström was most recently a partner at EQT Group, a global investment organisation, for nearly four years

He is currently a board member for several companies including Freepik, RevolutionRace and BIMobject.

Previous board positions include Epidemic Sound, Wolt, Yepstr and Parques Reunidos.

He worked at Expedia for nearly 14 years, most recently as president of the Hotels.com branch where he helped grow revenues to over $3bn and led direct teams of over 1,500 people across four continents.

‘Rightmove has a long runway of opportunities’

Andrew Fisher, Rightmove’s chair, thanked Brooks-Johnson for his “outstanding leadership” and “significant contribution” to the company.

He said that under Brook-Johnson the firm had increased its value to around £18bn in 2021 and delivered sustained growth for shareholders with annual revenues between £220m to £304m and £750m in dividends and share buybacks.

Fisher continued: “I am delighted to welcome Johan, whose proven ability to scale established companies along with his digital acumen and experience of marketplaces will continue to add significant value for our customers, home hunters, shareholders and team.”

Svanström added: “I’m very excited to join Rightmove and look forward to building on the company’s strong position and partnership model together with the team. Technology continues to provide opportunities to grow markets and create efficiencies everywhere.

“Rightmove has a long runway of opportunities to innovate, digitise and create ever more value for users, customers, and the wider eco-system.”
