Pacific Life Re’s insurtech firm UnderwriteMe has hired Andrew Doran as its CEO, effective immediately.

Doran takes over the role of UnderwriteMe CEO from James Tait, who has left the business to “pursue new opportunities”.

Doran joins from Pacific Life Re, where he has been the global chief underwriter for around three years. Before that, he was the head of underwriting and claims for nearly three years.

He has been based in Singapore for this role but will return to the UK to take up his new role.

Prior to that, he worked at Aviva from 2009 to 2020, initially joining as life claims manager and then working his way up to underwriting strategy manager.

Andrew Gill, EVP for global protection at Pacific Life Re and chair of UnderwriteMe, said: “We are delighted to welcome Andrew to UnderwriteMe. His extensive experience and proven track record in the insurance industry, combined with his deep understanding of our company’s technology and strategic goals, make him the ideal leader to deliver UnderwriteMe’s growth ambitions.”

Doran commented: “I look forward to working with the talented team at UnderwriteMe to continue driving innovation and excellence across our offering for both insurers and independent financial advisers globally, and to further strengthen our position as a leader in underwriting and claims automation and AI solutions.”

UnderwriteMe was founded in 2012, beginning with an underwriting engine and protection platform in the UK, and has grown to become an insurtech provider across Europe, Asia, Australia and North America.

The firm offers technology tools to “transform and disrupt the life insurance industry worldwide”.

This month, Finova Broker integrated with the firm.
