MT Finance has promoted Gareth Lewis (pictured) to the role of deputy chief executive, in which he will take on “expanded responsibilities with oversight over the entire group”.

The firm said the appointment “underscores its strong market position and continued commitment to developing, recognising, and rewarding the achievements of its employees”.

Lewis has been with MT Finance since 2018 as managing director, where he oversaw product development including the launch of regulated bridging and commercial divisions.

During that time, he has helped steer the business through the pandemic and mini Budget and helped secure over £2.5bn from multiple funding partners.

Prior to joining MT Finance, he was the director of bridging at Precise Mortgages for around seven years. Before that, he was the head of business development at Tiuta.

He has also worked as national sales manager at Cheval Property Finance for around seven years and as a packing manager at Jim Whites Mortgage Solutions.

Joshua Elash, director and founder of MT Finance, said: “Gareth has been with us for seven years and has been a huge part of the growth and success we have enjoyed during this period. He has come to epitomise our core values and is incredibly well-respected both internally and throughout the market.

“We are looking forward excitedly to what we can continue to achieve under Gareth’s leadership in the years to come. It is a natural step for Gareth to assume the role of deputy chief executive officer, and we are extremely confident that he will be exceptional.”

Lewis added: “I am honoured to have been promoted to deputy chief executive officer. I am extremely proud of everything we have achieved over the past eight years and am grateful to be able to work with such a dedicated team. I am looking forward to leading MT Finance on our growth journey in the months and years ahead.”

MT Finance also recently promoted Raphael Benggio from the role of head of lending for bridging finance to director of bridging and hired Raheel Butt as head of underwriting for its buy-to-let (BTL) division.
