Amicus Asset Finance has re-entered private ownership and is no longer part of the wider Amicus Finance Group.

In a statement the firm said: “Amicus Asset Finance Group Limited is now an independently owned company and is not part of the Amicus Finance plc group.

“It is business as usual at Amicus Asset Finance.”

The asset finance business has sought to maintain its independence after it was revealed that Amicus Property Finance was forced to stop lending after failing to secure investment.

Yesterday, Amicus Property Finance confirmed that all staff at the firm were under redundancy consultation.

No effect whatsoever

Amicus Asset Finance managing director Robert Keep said it had taken a couple of months to complete the separation process.

“At the moment we have been focusing on separating the business and getting it back into private ownership,” he said.

“It was important we got there in the end.”

He added: “The issues at Amicus Property Finance had no effect whatsoever on the business.”

A potential name change or other measures are also a possibility but will only be considered in the New Year.
