YBS Commercial appoints Norman as lending head
Specialist commercial lender YBS Commercial has appointed Angela Norman, formerly of Recognise Bank, as its head of lending.

In the newly created role at YBS Commercial, Norman will lead the commercial lender’s growth plans and create and deliver “strategic plans” to “enhance the support provided for portfolio landlord and owner-occupier smaller businesses”.

She will also be leading the regional commercial lender teams and working closely with regional directors.

Norman was most recently director of lending strategy and propositions at Recognise Bank for nearly four years, and before that, she was head of customer, product and proposition at Revverbank for over a year.

Prior to that, she was an adviser at Winning Pitch for nearly two years, and had spent almost 12 years at Future Williams and Glyn Team in RBS in various senior roles.

Tom Simpson, managing director for YBS Commercial, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to welcome Angela to the team and believe that, with her fantastic blend of strategic and customer-facing experience in commercial lending and in-depth understanding of the brokers and investors we serve, she’ll play a crucial role in our ambitions to expand the business and provide even better service and support to our clients as we move forward into the future.”

New SME product ‘reinforces a commitment to listen’

Norman added: “I am delighted to be joining the team at such an exciting point in the business’ growth journey. I am passionate about bringing teams together to create a high-performing culture that focuses on providing exceptional customer experiences, and I look forward to playing my part in delighting our commercial clients and delivering the goals and aspirations of the business.

“I believe that businesses and their advisers should have complete confidence when working with a lender to deliver their funding requirements. YBS Commercial has a unique opportunity to deliver this, leveraging the vast experience across the team with a strong focus on customer service and compelling, purposeful products.

“The launch of the new SME product, in direct response to broker feedback, reinforces a commitment to listen, and act upon, crucial external feedback, which is something I also intend to build on.”

YBS Commercial has been growing its team in recent months, hiring Chris Butler, Barry Dillon and Thomas Mac Donnchadha Hill to its business development manager (BDM) team.

The lender said earlier this year that it aims to double its workforce in 2024 and created a London hub to build on its presence in the region.
