United Trust Bank (UTB) has promoted Rebwar Abdoullahi to the role of business development manager (BDM) in its bridging and buy-to-let (BTL) field sales team.

In his new role, Abdoullahi will report to Brad Illman, head of sales for bridging, and will be tasked with “continuing to build and strengthen relationships with brokers operating in the South West and Wales”.

He has been with UTB for around a year, initially joining as a relationship manager. Before that, he was an account manager at Tandem Bank.

Prior to that, Abdoullahi was a senior mortgage underwriter at Step One Financial for around six years, and previously was a mortgage adviser at Inspired Loans for just under a year.

He has also worked as a mortgage broker at Dynamo for around a year.

UTB said it intends to grow its presence in the non-regulated bridging market and was looking to take advantage of opportunities to write more business exiting refurbishment loans to BTL mortgages.

Illman said: “We are delighted to welcome Rebwar to the bridging and BTL field sales team and he brings a wealth of experience across the mortgage industry, including spending time as a broker. He is professional and personable and his ability to build and manage relationships is a real strength.

“Rebs will play an important role in supporting our broker partners and driving continued growth in what is going to be an exciting and transformative year for UTB.”

Abdoullahi added: “I’m excited to take on this new challenge and I’m looking forward to supporting brokers and promoting UTB as we become a standout lender in the bridging and BTL markets. With new technology and processes on the way, we are transforming the way brokers can work with UTB, giving faster decisions and delivering more successful outcomes for brokers and customers.”
