POLL: Brokers call for FSA to be scrapped as mortgage regulator
Last week’s Mortgage Solutions’ poll has revealed brokers overwhelmingly believe the Financial Services Authority should be replaced as regulator of the mortgage industry.
As per a pledge by the Conservatives to replace the current regulator if they win the General Election, 78% of brokers said the FSA should be traded in for a new body, while just 21% said it should remain.
This week’s survey asks whether brokers’ mortgage business levels have increased, decreased or stayed the same after Bank of England figures showed gross lending was down in Q1 compared to Q4 2009.
