The latest Mortgage Solutions People’s Poll asked brokers if they were more likely to place a case with a lender which had better support networks in place.
The majority of brokers (61%) said they preferred lenders with better broker support while just over a quarter (26%) said the quality of support staff made no difference.
A further 13% said that support staff quality would only affect a decision if there were other factors at play.
NatWest announced plans to expand its support staff last month while fellow lender GE Money has also moved to appoint extra BDMs.
NatWest head of intermediary mortgages Graham Felstead said: “Because we intend to sustain this level of lending we are investing more into our service proposition. A key element of this will be the recruitment of more quality people to our sales teams.”
