Avrili, who started out at John Charcol in 1984 after graduation from the University of Lancaster, spoke to our film crew straight after picking up his award clearly enjoying the moment.
Avrili thanks his first boss John Garfield, all the people he has worked for and alongside over the years moving on to his family, but needed to be prompted for another special mention.
He says: “And my wife as well. I didn’t need prompting for that one.”
The award was sponsored by Skipton Intermediaries’ head of intermediary sales Paul Darwin, who joins Avrili on-screen.
Darwin commented: “Walter has been an absolute star. He has been an advocate of customers and the right outcomes for a number of years and I couldn’t wish the award to go to a better person.”
Avrili launched the first mortgage broker online website, ‘Charcolonline,’ in 1999, setting up Bradford & Bingley’s nationwide mortgage broker network ‘Marketplace’ two years later.
He has held various positions at John Charcol over the years, including operations and sales director then chief operating officer, and became managing director in 2010 when John Charcol became part of the Towergate Financial Group.
