“I also think that advice is important for men too, particularly in the financial services advice industry – many men work very long hours and struggle to get that balance.
“It is true that mortgage advice is a good career option for women wanting higher earnings and more flexibility, particularly if self-employed.
“What the industry needs to do is find a solution to bring more women into the independent advice sector from scratch rather than them having to endure many years working in banks to get qualifications and experience.
“It is difficult for entrants to the industry to gain Competent Adviser Status any other way.”
