Nottingham BS’ charitable fund supports 12 charities with £50,000 donations
Nottingham Building Society’s charitable foundation, Samuel Fox Foundation, will support 12 charities with a total of £50,000 in donations.

There are a wide range of causes supported including youth homelessness, clothes bank, food banks and provider of care to children with life limiting conditions.

The charities were nominated by team members in its branch and head office.

Those selected will receive a donation of between £2,000 and £5,000, with the mutual noting that due to local remit a donation of this size would be “pivotal in them being able to support more people in need”.

The charities include:

  • Arnold Foodbank, Nottingham
  • Broxtowe Youth Homelessness, Nottingham
  • High Peak Homeless Help, Buxton
  • Hope for Belper, Belper, Derbyshire
  • HOPE Nottingham, Nottingham
  • Jigsaw Support Scheme, Mansfield
  • Long Eaton and Sawley Foodbank, Nottingham
  • The Friary, Nottingham
  • We Are ONE, Grimsby
  • Oikos-Brigg, Brigg, North Lincolnshire
  • Shareware, Nottingham
  • The Harley Jae Trust, Bingham, Nottinghamshire

The foundation was set up in 2021 and named after the man who founded the building society in 1849.

Overall, the mutual has donated almost £110,000 to local charities this year.

Sue Hayes, Nottingham Building Society’s chief executive officer, said: “For over 170 years The Nottingham has been here to support communities, it’s intrinsic to who we are as a mutual.

“This Christmas, we thought it only fitting that our amazing colleagues were given the chance to nominate charities they know are making a different to their local area, to be the beneficiaries of funds from the foundation bearing the name of our philanthropic founder.”

She continued: “The majority are small organisations doing incredible work in their communities. Many of which are also bearing the brunt of the cost of living crisis themselves, doing their best to support those in need with limited resources. I couldn’t be prouder of the team for getting behind such fantastic causes.”
