Newcastle Building Society has appointed Andrew Conroy as its CFO, subject to regulatory approval.

Conroy is expected to take up the role during the first quarter of next year, with Paul Astruc continuing in his interim position until then.

Conroy joins from Leeds Building Society, where he worked for around six years, most recently as CFO, and before that, as interim CFO.

Prior to that, he was CFO at Masthaven Bank for around two years. Before that, he was at Coventry Building Society for around three years, most recently as head of finance.

Conroy also spent just over a decade at West Brom Building Society, starting as group project accountant and working his way up to divisional director of finance.

Andrew Haigh, Newcastle Building Society’s CEO, commented: “We very much look forward to welcoming Andrew to the team in the new year. Andrew will bring his extensive experience from across the sector including prior leadership and senior roles at Leeds, Coventry and West Bromwich Building Societies.”
