Mortgage broker consolidator Pivotal Growth has acquired Purely Financial Planning Limited and KMC Financial Ltd, mortgage and protection brokerages operating across the South East of England.

The business – which launched in 2021 as a £200m joint venture between LSL Property Services and Pollen Street Capital to build a national tech-led mortgage advisory powerhouse – is on the acquisition trail, having recently acquired CLS Money and entered a further agreement to acquire Simply Lending Solutions, signalling its expansion into the specialist mortgage market.

South East focus

Purely is based in Walton‑on‑Thames, while KMC Financial is based in East Grinstead, West Sussex.

Mayank Prakash CBE (pictured), group CEO of Pivotal Growth, said both businesses share Pivotal Growth’s focus on delivering trusted advice, maintaining strong client outcomes and preserving entrepreneurial leadership, and stand to benefit from the scale, resources and regulatory expertise of the wider group.

Duncan Hodgson and Andrew Glover, directors of Purely Financial Planning, added: “Pivotal’s approach strongly aligned with how we have built Purely over the past decade. The group’s long‑term perspective, coupled with the support of John Charcol’s experienced management team, will enable us to continue growing the business while maintaining the culture, values and client‑focused approach that are central to Purely.”

Kevin Orchard, managing director of KMC Financial, commented: “Joining Pivotal represents a natural next step for KMC Financial. Pivotal’s long‑term mindset and respect for entrepreneurial leadership were key factors for us. By joining forces, we can continue putting our clients first with quality advice, while gaining access to the scale and support that comes with being part of a larger group.”

Prakash said the acquisitions “reflect our continued focus on partnering with entrepreneurial brokerages that value quality and long‑term growth.”

He added: “Pivotal is set up to support firms like KMC Financial and Purely with additional resources and regulatory expertise, enabling continued growth while preserving the entrepreneurial autonomy with shared values that underpin our future success.”

Prakash was made group CEO of Pivotal Growth last summer, replacing Simon Embley.

Prakash was previously the group chief operating officer at Evelyn Partners, appointed in 2022, where he led growth across its wealth, professional and fund services. He is currently a board director for Softcat and Uber in the UK.
