Paul Learoyd has joined Hanley Economic Building Society as chief operating officer (COO) to support the lender’s growth.

Learoyd (pictured) joins the mutual from West Brom Building Society, where he served as digital programme director to deliver a platform and business transformation programme.

His previous experience includes senior mortgage, proposition and transformation roles at Admiral Money, Pepper Money and Saffron Building Society, covering areas such as product development, digital strategy and operational change.

At Hanley Economic Building Society, Learoyd will ensure the mutual’s technology, processes and controls support colleagues and members while helping to deliver its wider business plans and strengthening operational resilience and supporting future development.

Mark Selby, chief executive of Hanley Economic Building Society, said: “Paul brings a strong mix of building society knowledge, mortgage experience and a proven record of delivering significant transformation within regulated financial services. As we continue to develop the society, having the right operational foundations in place will be vital to how we grow while maintaining the high standards of service our members and intermediary partners expect.

“His experience will be a valuable addition to our executive team and I look forward to working closely with him.”
