Legal and General has announced it has decided to follow the general practice of time-barring future complaints from mortgage endowment customers.

Customers will be mailed over the next year or so and advised they have six months from the date of the letter to make any claims for compensation.

Paul Timmins, director of customer resolutions at Legal & General, said: “We want to draw a close to mortgage endowment complaints. We feel the time is right, we have seen what some of our competitors have done and we have given customers at least an extra year over our competitors.”
