“The big question running through the heart of the election decisive to the country’s future is how are we going to get the economy moving,” Osborne said unveiling his party’s manifesto at Battersea Power Station this morning.
He said national debt had doubled under Labour and the Government’s waste threatens to kill the economy.
Meanwhile, shadow work and pensions secretary Theresa May set out plans for what she described as “the most radical plans for welfare since it first began,” promising to get people off benefits and into work.
She also assured new businesses the Tories will help them find the capital to get going through their new Big Society bank and said marriage will be recognised in the tax system.
Earlier, shadow foreign secretary William Hague opened proceedings at the Conservative venue by saying: “Battersea Power Station is ripe for regeneration just like our country.”
