Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed four of its intermediary sales bosses have been asked to reapply for their jobs following the closure of Cheltenham & Gloucester for Intermediaries in March.

Kevin Purvey, head of sales at Cheltenham & Gloucester and Scottish Widows Bank, Phil Rickards, head of sales at Birmingham Midshires and Ian Wilson, head of sales at Halifax have all been asked to apply for their roles again.

Head of national accounts Maria Harris must also reapply for her position.

The streamlining move will result in the bank only operating two sales teams – Birmingham Midshires and Halifax – with the Halifax team caretaking the Scottish Widows brand.

A spokeswoman for Lloyds Group confirmed the move and added it was an inevitability as soon as the closure of C&G was announced.

“We have three heads of sales and we only need two because we only have two sales teams,” she said.

The consultation process will continue into May, with the successful applicants for the new roles to be confirmed in the next two weeks.

The roles report into Lloyds’ head of intermediary distribution, Peter Curran and start from 1 June.
