FSA confirms Century and Scottish Building Society merger
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has approved the proposed merger between Century Building Society and the Scottish Building Society.

The regulator has given permission for the transfer of the engagements from Century to the Scottish ahead of their proposed merger at the start of next month.

The proposal for the merger was submitted to the FSA on 23 November 2012 following a meeting in which both shareholders and borrowers at Century approved the plans.

The Century currently holds assets of £25m and has around 3,500 members. It had originally agreed to merge with the Scottish last August.
