House prices in Scotland booming as Edinburgh values surge 16% – Your Move
House price growth in Scotland has rocketed to six per cent, as values in England stagnate, according to analysis by estate agent Your Move.

Prices increased in 29 of 32 authorities north of the border in the year to November.

In Edinburgh prices increased 3.3 per cent in the month alone, with values up a whopping 16% annually.

This was beaten by Nah-Eileanan Siar and Clackmannanshire where values soared by 24.4% and 18.5% respectively.

However, property is still twice as affordable in Scotland compared to the south east of England.

The average Scottish house prices stands at £186,142.

Affordability is a key driver of value growth in the country, according to Your Move.

Median earnings in Scotland are the third highest in Britain behind only London and the South East, whereas house prices are second lowest behind only the North East.

Christine Campbell, Your Move managing director in Scotland, said: “The Scottish market continues to go from strength to strength and its performance in recent months has been highly positive.

“When we’re seeing a slowdown in house price growth south of the border, it’s encouraging to see that Scotland’s housing market continues to exceed expectations.”
