Together has appointed Paula Purdy key account manager and also announced that it has been named in the top 100 companies to work for in the UK.

Purdy (pictured) has more than 30 years’ experience in the mortgage industry and joins from Octopus Property where she was a business development manager for the North of England.

She will be building relationships with the lender’s specialist distributor brokers.

Purdy started her career working as a mortgage adviser then an underwriter and a sales manager for a mainstream bank before working for high street and specialist lenders.

Prior to Octopus she had been involved in launching Shawbrook Bank, initially working on the commercial side of the business before moving to head of sales for residential mortgages, and left in July after eight years at the lender.

Together’s head of specialist distribution Nick Jones, said: “Paula’s great reputation in the industry precedes her and her experience of both residential and commercial finance speaks for itself.

“We’re really excited to welcome her to our team and are going to enjoy working alongside her as we extend the distribution of our specialist products.”

Purdy added: “Together is a well-respected lender, which has always been my strongest competition wherever I’ve worked previously.

“I’m always looking to add value for the brokers I support, by helping them if they have an issue with a case or need to think outside the box.”

Best companies list

Together has also been named as one of the Sunday Times’ best 100 companies to work at for the second year running.

The lender ranked 52nd in this year’s list for businesses with more than 250 employees – it is headquartered in Cheadle, Cheshire, with an office in London.

Earlier this week it revealed that new lending completed within 2018 grew by 28 per cent compared to 2017 to hit £1.81bn.

Group chairman Mike McTighe, said: “I’m very pleased to announce that for the second year running we have been recognised as one of the UK’s best companies to work for.

“Since Together was founded in 1974, our unique and family-like culture has been at the very core of our business.

“This culture is embodied in everything we do, and in every single one of our colleagues starting from our chief executive, so it’s thanks to all of them that we are where we are today.”

HR director Kevin Fisher added: “This is a great achievement and one we are all extremely proud of.

“Taking part in the Best Companies survey is just one part of our commitment to giving colleagues a voice – through our listening strategy we strive to make sure every colleague feels part of Together.”

In a successful week for mortgage sector firms, specialist distributor Brightstar revealed it had been named as the best small business to work for in the Sunday Times list, with Charter Court Financial Services, the parent company of Precise Mortgages in the top 20 for the last four years.
