Mortgage Brain signs up to MIMHC to support mental well-being
Mortgage Brain, a leading technology provider to the mortgage industry, has announced that it is going to sign up to the Mortgage Industry Mental Health Charter (MIMHC).

The company has said that the move confirms its commitment to support mental health issues and the overall well being of its team.

As part of its dedication to improving mental health, Mortgage Brain is bringing back its popular Summer Fridays perk.

This encourages employees to complete their working week at lunchtime on a Friday throughout July and August for an extended summer weekend.

Charter demonstrates responsibility to team members

Pollyanna Puddephat, the head of marketing at Mortgage Brain, said: “As a leading player in our industry, we acknowledge the responsibility we bear, not just to our clients, but also to our hardworking team. Signing the MIMHC is our commitment to fostering a supportive, healthy, and inclusive work environment,”

“As an industry, it’s crucial that we acknowledge and address the struggles many individuals around us face – be it burnout, stress, or poor mental health.”

She added: “These challenges have profound implications, not only for the individuals experiencing them but also for the overall health of the mortgage industry. By reinstating Summer Fridays, we want to create an opportunity for our staff to relax, recharge, and enjoy their summer weekends even more.

“By taking care of one another, we are, in essence, taking care of our businesses, because a supported and mentally healthy workforce is the foundation of a thriving and successful company.”

Mortgage industry in unique place over mental health

The MIMHC aims to provide guidance and a simple framework where the companies who have signed up to the charter can tailor bespoke services to support their staff.

Research found there was a deteriorating picture over mental health in the mortgage industry.

Stressful life experiences such as financial pressures and bereavement are often triggers where customers seek financial advice.

It follows that such emotionally charges circumstances are transported onto those who are providing the services in the mortgage market place, increasing mental health burdens on staff.

The MIMHC is a not-for-profit organisation that is comprised  of seven  co-founding firms plus a growing number of signatories such as Mortgage Brain.
