Bridging lender Commercial Acceptances (CA) has appointed Alasdair Houghton as its lending director.

He joins from Cynergy Bank, where he was relationship director for a year and before that, he was with Atelier Capital Partners as its head of credit for over a year.

Houghton has more than 20 years of property finance experience, including 13 years at the Bank Leumi UK as its head of property finance. He also worked at Northern Rock for 11 years.

At CA, Houghton will have the responsibility of leading the lending team as they originate lending for new and existing clients, as well as manage relationships.

Daniel Hertz, managing director of Commercial Acceptances, said: “As one of the most established bridging lenders in the market, we have always prided ourselves on our long-standing relationships and reputation within the industry, and when we met Alasdair, it was clear that he shared these values and our vision for growth.

“Not only does he bring a wealth of experience in property lending, but he also recognises the opportunity we have, as a through-the-cycle lender, to support our clients in these uncertain times.”

Houghton (pictured) added: “It’s a privilege to be joining the team at CA, which has a well-deserved reputation within the industry for taking a relationship-centric approach to its lending.

“With its financial backing from the Close Brothers Group, the business has a strong appetite for lending even in times of economic turbulence, and that immediately stood out for me as a great opportunity in the current market.”
