Shelper returns to Pepper Money as national key account manager
Specialist lender Pepper Money has appointed Mark Shelper (pictured) as its national key account manager, marking his return to the firm.

Shelper previously worked at Pepper Money between 2016 and 2021 as a regional development manager.

He then went on to become a business development manager (BDM) at SortRefer for around a year, and proceeded to Tandem Bank in 2022, initially as a key relationship manager, then as a national account manager.

Tandem Bank’s first charge team was made redundant earlier this year amid a strategic refocus on its Home Improvement business.

Shelper started his career at Bristol & West as a BDM between 2002 and 2005, then became a regional sales executive at GMAC RFC for around two years. He was also a self-employed mortgage broker for around four years and a relationship manager at Aldermore for over four years.

Rob Barnard, intermediary relationship director at Pepper Money, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Mark back to the Pepper Money team, as we continue to invest in growing our lending, helping more customers and supporting brokers and our key distribution partners.

“This investment is particularly important at the moment, as the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and affordability squeeze mean that an increasing number of mortgage customers are best served by specialist lenders such as Pepper. Mark’s experience and knowledge of specialist mortgages will prove to be a real asset to our key accounts.”

Shelper added: “I’m really pleased to be back at Pepper Money, which continues to set the standard for service in the specialist mortgage market. Pepper’s award-winning proposition empowers brokers to help customers with a range of circumstances, including recent credit blips, a debt management plan [DMP] as recent as 12 months ago, or defaults and county court judgments [CCJs] registered as recently as six months ago.

“In the current environment, [these] criteria, combined with a hands-on and transparent approach to underwriting, [make] Pepper an essential part of any broker’s toolbox.”

Pepper Money has been growing its team, recently adding Nicola Culshaw and Claire Blunt to its second charge team.
