This week, Specialist Lending Solutions is speaking with George Poole (pictured), relationship manager at Avamore Capital.

Which locations and how many advisers and broker firms do you cover in your role at Avamore Capital?

I cover the entirety of the Midlands and the North, being the point of contact for any and all broker firms in the region.

What personal talent/skill is most valuable in doing your job?

Being able to make snappy decisions and communicate them effectively is important. Nobody wants to be kept waiting and people want things to be explained thoroughly to make their lives easier.

What do you love most about your job?

Definitely my colleagues, who make every day a blast. Avamore is a place where you really look forward to coming into the office each day.

How do you keep up to date with developments in the market?

Other than newsletters, the best way is simply by talking to people throughout the industry every day! It’s full of knowledgeable people in a variety of different roles – between them, all bases are covered.

If you could do any other job in the property sector, what would it be and why?

Does pub landlord count? If not, it would have to be something similar where I am still talking deals all day long and coming up with different structures and strategies to make them work.

What did you want to be growing up?

England and Chelsea top goal scorer; didn’t quite get there. I’ll blame it on my left foot.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Teleportation, so I can get to my meetings in a flash. Nobody wants to be sat on a busy train or stuck in traffic all day.

What is your strategy for tackling challenges?

Be open and honest – communication is key. Being proactive and addressing challenges upfront and early on can ensure that any consequences are kept to an absolute minimum.

What is your greatest skill(s), either work- or non-work-related?

I’d like to say something work-related, but I can do a fairly decent headstand!
