Majority don’t expect interest rate rise this year – reader poll
The majority of Mortgage Solutions readers do not expect the first rate rise for six years in 2015, according to a poll.
This week’s poll asked if readers expect to see a rate rise this year and 59% said no.
However, 40% of readers said they do expect a rate rise in 2015 after the election with just 1% expecting a rate rise before the UK goes to the polls.
Opinions remain hugely divided on interest rates.
An annual survey of economists from the FT in the first week of January revealed none thought the Bank of England would raise rates before the summer.
The majority thought the first rise would come in November at the earliest but 25 economists felt a rate rise should come sooner than that this year.
