This week, Mortgage Solutions is speaking with Jodie Babbage, account manager at Smoove.
What does your role entail and how long have you been doing it?
I have been an account manager for nearly 11 months and my aim is to reduce the amount of time and stress it takes to undergo the conveyancing process for both intermediaries and their clients.
What attracted you to working in the mortgage/property/finance sector?
I have always been interested in property. I applied for a job at an estate agency while working in London, then went on to sell new-build properties.

What were you doing in the five years before starting here?
Selling new-build properties for a new homes builder for two and a half years. Prior to that, I working in the retail sector for eight years.
What personal talent/skill is most valuable in doing your job?
Good communication and organisational skills.
What personal talent/skill would you most like to improve on?
There is always room to improve on each skill that you have and need to bring to the role.
How has the pandemic changed the way you approach your job?
To not let anything negative affect you personally as life is too short.
What is the most interesting/memorable property deal/case you’ve been involved in?

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
Possibly as senior account manager if the opportunity arises. In my personal life, to move home, start a family and own more cats.
If present-day you could go back in time and tell yourself something five years ago, what would it be?
Don’t dwell on the past, be positive and confident in all you do and never doubt yourself.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve tackled so far in your career?
This is a tough question as you can have so many different challenges throughout your career.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
Teleportation.
