Greig Townsend (pictured, left) has been hired as chief banking officer to lead its growth and brings more than two decades of experience in private banking, wealth management and financial leadership roles.
He was formerly director and head of East at Barclays Private Bank and Wealth Management, where he led a team of private bankers, chartered planners and support executives working with high-net-worth (HNW) clients.
Before this, Townsend held senior roles at Santander Private Bank, Quilter Cheviot and Barclays Private Bank and Wealth Management, where he specialised in investment and portfolio management.
At Hampden Bank, he will lead banking teams across the UK and focus on acquiring new clients.
Angela Dowd (pictured, right) has been appointed chief operating officer to replace Colin Tate, who has worked in the role for five years and will move to the position of chief information officer.

Tate will lead Hampden Bank’s IT strategy, including systems, digital banking, IT infrastructure and security.
Dowd has more than 30 years of experience in banking, working across corporate banking, credit and risk management. She joined from Handelsbanken, where she was chief product and sustainability officer, and was instrumental in implementing Consumer Duty.
These appointments come as Hampden Bank announced that in the year to June 2025, its lending grew by 10% to £610m and deposits rose 9% to £987m.
