Fleet joins Council of Mortgage Lenders
New buy-to-let and specialist lender Fleet Mortgages has joined the Council of Mortgage Lenders ahead of its launch next month.

Fleet announced on Monday that it is preparing to launch into the market in November and is headed by former CHL managing director Bob Young.

In anticipation, the lender has joined the mortgage trade body with immediate effect.

Starting next week Mortgage Solutions will have an exclusive blog written by Bob Young (pictured) covering the trials and tribulations of starting up a new lender.

In his first blog Young writes that Fleet’s first product range will include buy-to-let mortgages for residential landlords as well as limited companies and those seeking finance for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs).

He said the range had been developed after conversations with the intermediary market.

“It’s obvious but having the right products is critical and rather than assume ‘we know best’ we’ve been listening to some really good intermediaries on where they see opportunities in the buy-to-let market.

“It’s refreshing to have discussions with people who approach the lender/intermediary relationship as equals and gives us the opportunity to develop products that help them with their client needs. One of the perks of being a small lender is that we can be very flexible and responsive if someone has a good idea.”

Watch out for Bob Young’s ‘Diary of a New Lender’ blog starting next week on Mortgage Solutions.
