Specialist lender Step One Finance has launched its online broker portal at the same time as beefing up its sales and lending teams.

The launch of the online portal gives brokers the ability to get a quick decision in principle as well as simplifying and speeding up the application process. Once brokers have submitted an application, they can now track its status through to completion.

The lender insists the new online system will not impact its underwriting flexibility or its ability to provide individual assessments on specific cases.

Steve Khan, head of commercial development, said: “This a major step forward in improving the broker and customer journey and enhancing our proposition to a wider market.”

As well as launching its new broker portal, Step One Finance has appointed Tom Nelson as business development manager for the North of England and Scotland. Nelson has over 15 years’ experience of the second charge and mortgage industry and joins from Gopher Money.

In addition, Jamie Goddard, Paul Terzulli and Mustafa Hussain have all been promoted to underwriting team leaders and Afsheen Mahomed has recently joined the firm’s underwriting department.
