West One Loans creates ‘roving underwriter’ role to bolster broker support
West One Loans has introduced a roving underwriter role and appointed Ann-Marie Tarrant to the position to enhance the support it offers to its partners.

Tarrant was previously office-based. In her new role, she will make regular visits to the lender’s key distributors to help with first and second charge cases. She will also offer training to broker firms to help improve their knowledge of West One’s underwriting requirements.

Tarrant will also be able to assess cases on site, with an aim to help them progress to completion faster by reducing the number of day one underwriting needed before it is submitted to the underwriting team in Watford.

West One said it was confident the introduction of the role would improve its service and strengthen relationships with brokers.

This follows its launch into the first charge market with a range of deals for borrowers who do not fit high street criteria.

‘The perfect person for the role’

Marie Grundy (pictured), managing director of West One’s residential mortgages and second charge division said: “While remote working has become the norm for some businesses, many people still prefer face-to-face interactions, particularly when dealing with often complicated financial transactions. We know our brokers certainly think that way, which is why it made perfect sense to introduce this role to complement our office-based underwriting team.

“We want to ensure we are constantly providing a highly responsive and market-leading service, and we are confident this new role will help us achieve that. And in Ann-Marie, an experienced, respected and well-liked underwriter, we feel we have the perfect person for the job.

“Looking forward, we want to assure brokers that we will continue investing in our proposition to ensure that we are delivering a service that is the very best in the specialist end of the market.”
