New members elected to ASTL board
Two new members have been appointed to the executive board of the Association of Short Term Lenders (ASTL).
Gavin Seaholme, head of sales at Shawbrook Bank, and Alan Margolis, associate director at Greymax, have both been elected to the board as lender members.
In addition, Ray Cohen, founder of Jackson Cohen, has been re-elected as an associate member of the board.
The ASTL said that there had been a record number of candidates and votes, with the new members taking up their spots from 1 September.
They replace Scott Marshall, managing director of Roma Finance, and Steve Barber, founder of Bridging Finance Solutions. Both retire from their executive duties for the ASTL after having served their maximum terms.
Vic Jannels (pictured), CEO of the ASTL, praised the “magnificent contribution” of the outgoing members, particularly for their support of the introduction of the certified practitioner in specialist property finance qualification.

He continued: “We have achieved a lot with the association in the last year, but there is plenty still to do in promoting the interests of the short-term mortgage market and our customers. I know that Gavin and Alan will be valuable additions to the board and will play an important role in helping us to continue to raise the profile and the reputation of the sector.”
Last month, the ASTL revealed that almost 50 people have so far passed the specialist property finance qualification.
