Bridging and development finance lender Pallas Capital has appointed Phil Mabb as its senior originator, to lead intermediary engagement.

This comes after the Australian lender launched to the UK non-bank lending market last month to offer residential, mixed-use and commercial bridging, development exit, light and heavy refurbishment, vacant land and development finance.

Mabb brings more than 25 years of experience in specialist property finance to the role, spanning senior lending roles, independent broker and advisory services.

He started his career in banking before moving into senior property lending roles, and he worked as a broker and consultant at Bridgedevelopment.co.uk for nearly 12 years.

Pallas Capital said his experience on both sides of lending gave him an understanding of credit decision-making and the needs of advisers.

His appointment will also strengthen Pallas Capital UK’s focus on broker partnerships, disciplined underwriting and providing certainty.

Mabb said: “This is a tough market, but that’s exactly why it’s such a good opportunity. Strong lenders establish themselves when conditions are challenging, not when everything is easy. Pallas is well-funded, committed and built for long-term growth, which makes now the right time to be here.

“Having spent many years on the broking side, I know what frustrates intermediaries: shifting appetite, unclear answers and slow decision-making. What brokers want is clarity and confidence that a lender can actually deliver – and that’s where Pallas stands out.”

Mabb will work closely with Ben Keenan, executive director, and Uliana Kuzmis, chief credit officer, as well as the wider origination and credit teams to support intermediaries and align origination, underwriting and execution.

Mabb added: “Good lending is about balancing commerciality with discipline. It’s not about doing every deal, but about finding the right way to support well-structured transactions without compromising credit standards.”

Keenan said: “Phil brings a rare combination of broker credibility, lending experience and market judgement. As we grow the UK platform, his insight will be invaluable in delivering the consistency and professionalism that define Pallas globally.”
