Poll: 16% of brokers use building societies for half of cases
One-in-six mortgage brokers use a building society for more than half of their cases, the results of the latest Mortgage Solutions poll have shown.

Major building societies have also announced dramatically increased mortgage lending for 2013 while smaller lenders have dramatically grown their books in the last 12 months.

Yorkshire Building Society announced record lending figures last week with the lender completing £6.8bn of mortgages in 2013.

Meanwhile Skipton revealed an increase in mortgage lending of 63% with other mutuals Coventry and Leeds also reporting leaps in lending.

This increased lending has filtered through to the intermediary channel with 16% of brokers stating they put more than half of their business through mutual organisations.

But the Mortgage Solutions People’s Poll also found the majority of advisers (51%) place less than 30% of their cases through building societies.
