Bupa’s international private medical insurance (IPMI) business has been awarded CII-accredited status for its online broker training portal, the Bupa Academy.

The Bupa Academy is the first and only global web-based training by an insurer to receive the accreditation from CII, a professional body for global financial services.

The three levels of the Academy – Foundation, Advanced and Expert – each have a curriculum that is designed to help improve users’ understanding of a particular subject or skill, ranging from ‘An Introduction to Insurance’ to ‘Advanced Underwriting, Pricing and Risk’.

Once each level is completed, the user is awarded a Bupa accreditation, sent a certificate and given access to the next level.

With CII accreditation, Academy training now also counts towards continued professional development (CPD).

The portal is currently being used by over 500 brokers in 42 countries.

We’re delighted and proud of this recognition from the CII.”

Tamsin Mills, director of Accreditation Services at the CII said: “Bupa is beating a new path to international broker engagement and development. The Bupa Academy is innovative, supporting brokers’ technical knowledge and helping to ensure that products meet their customers’ needs. We are pleased to work with Bupa on this initiative and hope that CII accreditation will enable them to continue this forward-thinking work in the industry.”
