Countrywide has appointed its first research director who will head up a central team for the group to help its staff and customers gain a better understanding of the UK property market.

Johnny Morris is currently head of research at Hamptons International, part of the Countrywide group, a position he has held since 2013.

Alison Platt, CEO of Countrywide, said: “We recognise that there is real strength in having one central research team that pulls together the multiple strands of the business. Our new research team will drive the growth of Countrywide’s voice and focus on helping both our customers and our people understand how their markets work.”

Morris said: “The appetite for research within the Countrywide group and from our customers has never been greater. Countrywide’s wealth of propriety data together with the expertise of its people is a rare combination that will enable us to deliver greater levels of unique insight into the UK’s property market.”

Morris will be the primary research spokesperson for Countrywide, while Fionnuala Earley will continue as lead spokesperson for Hamptons International’s research.
