Accord Mortgages has appointed Nicola Alvarez to its corporate account team, who was previously sales and marketing director at Melton Mowbray Building Society.

Alvarez started her new role today and brings 20 years of financial services experience to the team, confirmed the mutual.

Alvarez’s work history includes Melton Mowbray and a period as underwriting manager at Platform, the Co-operative Bank’s intermediary lender.

Accord has also promoted Nick Piper internally to the role of strategic performance and operations manager after 21 years in a variety of roles including most recently, customer and commercial performance manager.

Jeremy Duncombe, director of intermediary distribution at Accord, said: “The calibre of our new appointments really reflects the ambition of our growth plans and we’re delighted to welcome Nicola and Nick to the team.

“Nicola’s role is to manage and develop our existing propositions such as new build and contractor mortgages, but also to work with our brokers and key lending partners to identify and deliver new areas to develop our offering further – involving our brokers from the beginning to understand exactly what’s needed.”

“We’re determined to help brokers give the best possible service to their clients and these appointments serve to underline that commitment,” he added.

Earlier this month, Accord announced the appointment of a number of senior positions including Helen Cawthra who also joined as a corporate account manager following two years at Leeds Building Society in the same role, and a decade at Lloyds Banking Group as a business development manager.

Two business development managers, Jamie Curtis and Rhiannon Adams, have also been appointed to add further weight to the lender’s sales team.
